If you own or run a business one thing that you should be doing is using social media to tell your story. Tell your story, tell your businesses story, tell your employees story. Doing this can give your customers an inside look at your business. They will feel more of a connection and this builds trust.
This is actually the first thing I do when we start working on a new social media marketing campaign for our clients. Step one of the process is to get a good profile of the company and find out what their story is, and why their customers should care about their story. This is an important step that we take to ensure that we can give our clients the absolute best way to use social media so that their customers can relate.
Without a story it’s hard to show your customers why they should care about your business. Years back it was not that common to really tell a story about a business. Most businesses would just buy T.V., newspaper, billboard, and magazine ads and just push their products. Today’s marketing is much different. If you just push products constantly now people will ignore you. Why? Because you are not adding any value to the relationship. You should give value first before expecting to ask for someones business.
Telling your story is a great way to add value by building a connection with your customers. When they need what you sell they will think of you because of the connection and familiarity you have build with them through your story.
Telling your story will also help build authority in your industry. Give great advice to people when they ask. Write a blog to keep them educated and informed about your niche.
Why Should They Care?
Your story should be interesting to get people to care. Tell your audience why you started the business. Let them know some of the challenges you are facing. Show them why your products or services are worth their attention. Most of all be FUN! Get them involved some way by asking your followers and customers for their feedback.
Keep Them Updated
As you are making progress with your business keep your followers and customers up to date on what is going on. People love transparency and transparency helps build trust. Be a transparent business and you will get much more engagement on social media.
Don’t just be boring and post basic stuff on social media. Let your audience in on your story. Be transparent so that they can follow along with your business story. Bring attention to the employees and management. Don’t hide behind a logo and expect people will connect with you on a personal level. Go out today and tell your story on social media!

The next article in our “Your Business Series” is on how to use social media if you own a car dealership. Owning or running a car dealership is tough and competitive. Social media marketing can greatly benefit a car dealership if it is done right.
Your Business Series Article #4 – How To Use Social Media If You Own A Car Dealership
So you own a car dealership or maybe you manage one and you are wondering how you can use social media to bring in more business to your car dealership and sell more cars don’t worry we got you covered!
If you own or manage a car dealership live video is a great social media tool to use. You have the power to instantly let your customers see what you have going on at the car dealership. Some ways you could use live video are;
Product Demos: Show your automobiles in action, show off the great benefits of certain vehicles. Do this live and give demonstrations to show why they should buy that vehicle. If they can see the benefits live it might peak their interest more!
Sales Events: If you are having a big sales event going on, put that on live video. Give a tour of the building and car lot and show off the sale prices! Tell your live audience of other things going on during the sales event like free food, drinks, etc.
Introduce Sales Staff and Management: Use live video to show off your staff and have them do a “take over” for a day so that they can show off their personality to potential customers.
Repair Shop: If your car dealership has a repair shop attached, do a live video and talk about the benefits of why your repair shop is a good place to bring a vehicle for repairs. Also let customers see some of the prices of basic repairs and specials so that they have an idea. Use the live video to tell them about any awards you may have won for the repair shop.
Answer Questions: If you get a decent sized audience for your live videos you will have people who ask questions and leave comments. This is a great way to instantly connect and maybe even make a sale that very day! Make sure to answer back during the live broadcast.
A lot of car dealerships do this and it’s a good thing. Showing happy people standing by a car they just bought is good for business. The mistake I see a lot is that too many car dealerships ONLY do this. Don’t believe me look up a local car dealership and chances are most of their posts are people standing by a car they just bought. There is way more to social media marketing than just posting a generic picture of the same thing over and over.
Don’t get me wrong this is a great way to show off some happy customers and you should do this, but don’t get stuck in the rut of only showing customers by their new car purchase. Expand your horizons and change it up a bit.
Updates On New Inventory
The car industry is always changing with new and improved vehicles and features. Use social media to tell your customers about the new inventory that you have or will be getting.
Community Events and Charities
If your car dealership is heavily involved in the community (and it should be) social media is a great way to show others what you care about. Talk about the charities you support. Show off pictures of teams or events that you sponsor. Give people that sense that you do care about the local community. Don’t do it to brag, just post things to show others that you care and to maybe even get more support for the local charities and events.
Updates and Improvements
If you have some new updates and improvements happening to the building you can show your customers what is happening on social media. Post pictures and videos of the improvements as they happen! Bring your customers along for the ride (no pun intended) on the improvements you are making to the business and the building. Tell them how the new improvements will help with the overall customer experience! Invite them down to come check out the new improvements or promote a Grand Opening.
Share Relevant Information
There is always something new to talk about in the automotive industry. Find good articles that you think your customers will like to read and share them on your social media. Are there new safety regulations taking effect? Share an article or video about it. Keep your customers educated and up to date and they will remember you when they are thinking about buying there next car.
If you sell cars and you know that there is a massive recall on a certain model post about it on your social media pages. When you post about it tell them how they can take the next step to get their vehicle fixed. Be proactive to show your customers that you care about them and their safety.
There are so many ways to be fun and effective on social media if you own a car dealership. Don’t fall into the trap of just posting the same old stuff over and over again. Get creative to keep your customers and fans engaged. If you can do that you can create loyal customers who are happy that they follow you. Keeping your social media fun will only have your customers looking forward to your next post!

Facebook has just released it’s new Stories feature. You can find it at the top of your home page. From there you can post pictures and videos that last for 24 hours.
It’s very similar to Snapchat and Instagram Stories. As a matter of fact it looks a lot like Instagram Stories with the stories appearing at the top of your home page. You can also send direct stories to specific friends.
Although I only played around with it for a little bit the functionality is a little different. To get filters you need to swipe up. You can add pictures and video from your camera roll also. Adding text, stickers, and drawings is pretty much the same as Snapchat and Instagram Stories.
This is a feature that could get a lot of use especially for people who aren’t on Snapchat or Instagram. Facebook has the biggest audience so I’m sure it will get plenty of use.
How will this effect Snapchat? Facebook has been looking at adding more Snapchat like features to slow their growth. The new Facebook Stories feature is a big feature that I’m sure Facebook is hoping catches on. This way they can keep more people on Facebook and draw them away from using Snapchat. The more time people spend on Facebook the more revenue they can generate.
In the end it’s a smart business move by Facebook. In business you always need to be growing and evolving and that’s what Facebook does best!
What are your thoughts on the new Facebook Stories? Let us know in the comments or share this on social media with a comment.

Facebook allows users to use a chatbot on Messenger. Chatbots are a way to automatically communicate and answer questions on Facebook Messenger. It takes some time to get set up, but once set up it can save you time and money. It can also lead to better customer service.
Personally I have not used a chatbot yet on Facebook Messenger. I have seen them in action and understand why a business would use them. They can save time for you and your customer. If you set up your chatbot correctly it can be very useful.
It is a good way to help answer basic questions and to lead customers to the right answer. Chatbots are becoming more of the norm especially for large businesses.
Chatbots are also very useful when it comes to speed of service. Customers can get an instant answer anytime and any day whether your business is open or closed.
Should You Use A Chatbot?
I think it could be beneficial if you don’t have time or have someone who monitors your social media constantly. The fact that customers can get an instant response is reason enough to set up a chatbot and see if it is right for your business.
If you aren’t sure if you should use a chatbot on Facebook Messenger or not, maybe set one up for a little while and monitor it’s effects on customer service. Worst case scenario you can remove it and go back to live customer service on Facebook Messenger.
With social media constantly changing and adding new and improved ways to communicate with customers it is worth trying them to find the right social media tools that will work for your business. If some don’t work out you can always go back to what was working. The thing is you don’t want to not try some of the new useful ways to use social media to help your business and get behind the technological curve. Stay up to date on the new social media tools and find the ones that work for you.
If you are using a chatbot to help customers get answers then you don’t have to pay someone to monitor Facebook Messenger as much. They can allocate more time to social media marketing instead of answering questions that the chatbot can take care of automatically.
Personally I haven’t set up a chatbot yet, but I think I might experiment more with it in the near future. I like to do live customer service, but the problem with that is sometimes I can’t answer a question on Facebook Messenger for a few hours or longer so chatbots could be very useful to help my customers. I also plan on using them more on client accounts (if they prefer) to save time and money for my clients.
Know that Facebook allows chatbots and it is not against their policy. Since they allow it that means Facebook must see some value from chatbots as well.
What is your opinion on Facebook Messenger chatbots? Let us know in the comments below or share this on social media with a comment.

If you haven’t heard Facebook Live is now available on your desktop. For a long time it was only available on mobile devices. This new development is nice because it will make doing webinars and other videos from your office easier.
Of course you will need a webcam on your desktop computer. I do like doing Facebook Live more on mobile because I can do it anywhere and anytime, but having the option to do Facebook Live on a desktop is nice and gives us more options!
I think live video should be a part of every social media marketing campaign in 2017. It is probably the biggest trend in social media right now. If you haven’t thought about using Facebook Live yet for your business you should start thinking of ways you can add it your social media marketing strategy.
Now that it’s 2017 we know that social media has now been around over a decade. Social media marketing itself is younger than that. Most businesses didn’t even consider social media marketing until about 5 years ago or less. There is still a lot to learn about social media marketing and so many changes and new features yet to come.
What Will Be Big In 2017 In Social Media Marketing?
We will never be able to predict 100% what will be the biggest trend in social media marketing. The best thing to do is to predict what it will be based on past and trending social media marketing strategy. I do have an idea about what will be the biggest social media marketing trend of 2017.
It’s not really even that much of a surprise. It has been heading in this direction for quite awhile and now most social media platforms are pushing it and enhancing this feature almost daily.
What Is It?
LIVE VIDEO! That is the trend that you need to start working into your social media marketing strategy for 2017. If you haven’t started yet in 2016 it’s time to get the “live video” into your strategy.
I am not mentioning something new here. A lot of internet marketers know this and are saying the same thing. They are able to see what others may not see early and adopt the strategy before everyone else does. Your job is to also become an early adopter and hop on the live video as soon as possible!
Use The Power Of Facebook Live
Just think of the power you now have at your fingertips with Facebook Live!! It’s amazing to think how far we came in marketing and technology. It’s your job to take advantage of this great age of marketing and make it work for you.
If you haven’t noticed yet Facebook is really pushing their Facebook Live feature on your Facebook feed, T.V., Billboards, and other advertising. You know that if they are putting in that kind of effort to get you to use the Facebook Live feature that they have big plans for it!
It is still fairly new and Facebook will keep adding new and improved features as time goes. Get familiar with it now so that you will be able to connect with your customers in new and fun ways before your competition even thinks about it.
Others Are Jumping In!
Recently Instagram has added a Live feature, it is a little different in the fact that the live video disappears immediately after you are done with your live broadcast. It is cool, because you are living in the moment without the video being saved.
Twitter has a live video feature as well. I personally haven’t used the live feature on Twitter yet. (as of writing this) I will have to give it a try and see how good it is.
With other social media platforms implementing the live video feature you know that this is the wave of the future for social media marketing. Know this now and start doing some kind of live video soon to stay with this trend and ahead of your competitors.
Get Started With Live Video Soon!
I do highly suggest that you add “Live Video” into your social media marketing strategy for 2017. If you don’t you will be working with an outdated social media marketing strategy. Find ways to keep it fun and to get your customers engaged.
Define goals for your social media marketing strategy even when implementing live video into your strategy. Get this Free Cheat Sheet on How To Clearly Define Goals For Your Social Media Marketing. It will help guide you to set goals so that you will know why you are doing social media marketing and what you hope to get out of it.

If you don’t have goals you really have no plan. You will need to put together some real goals that you hope to accomplish with your social media marketing campaign. Without goals you will not know which direction to head, how much to spend, how much time it will take, what kind of return on investment (ROI) you will get out of it, etc. You will be like a ship with no direction.
I’ve worked with businesses that really had no clear cut goals for their marketing. I’m not just talking about social media marketing all marketing needs to be clearly defined!
Start With The Budget
Always start with the budget because you will need to know how much resources you will have to work with. This includes cash and time. I suggest that you start with a yearly budget and plan it out over the 12 months.
When dividing the budget into 12 months you will want to consider your busiest months and slowest months and figure out how much to put into those months. There is no one answer you can look at it different ways.
Busy Months: If you put more marketing efforts in at this time you may make a lot more or you can put less money and save that money for the slow months.
Slow Months: If you put more marketing efforts in at this time you may get a little more business during the slow times or you could just save that money and put it into the busy months to generate more revenue to make up for the slow months.
A lot of how you plan out your marketing budget will depend on your industry, location, money available, size of your company, and products/services.
Pro Tip: A good way to figure out a budget is to plan 70% and leave 30% open for adding to other marketing, or to current marketing that has been effective. Always leave some room to work with.
Where You Want To Invest Your Marketing Dollars
I always suggest that if you’re new or limited on resources start with only one or two social media platforms. This will give you time to get familiar with these social media platforms and to get good at them.
This also works really good for your budget planning. Try not to spread your money too thin by advertising on a lot of social media platforms. Stick with one or two and you will have more money and time to invest in those one or two social media platforms.
Let’s say you have $10,000 to invest in social media marketing for the year. If you are advertising only on Facebook you can make that $10,000 go a long way. If you were going to use that $10,000 on four social media platforms you only have $2,500 to invest on each.
If you can attack one social media platform with more resources you will be much better off than spreading your resources thin on multiple social media platforms. Pick the one social media platform that works best for your business and really crush it.
Pro Tip: Not sure which social media platform to start with? My suggestion is to pick the two that you think are best for reaching your demographic. Spend some time building an audience and learn which one gives you the best engagements.
Figure Out The Main Goal
Why are you doing social media marketing? Are you using it to get more leads, get more sales, build brand awareness, to connect with customers? You will need to figure out exactly why you are doing social media marketing in the first place.
Once you know your reason you can decide which platform is best to hit your goals. Don’t start a social media marketing campaign without knowing what you want out of it. Just remember that social media marketing is a marathon so don’t expect major ROI from the get go. (unless you have a huge marketing budget) If it were that easy everyone would be millionaires from using social media.
If fast sales are what you are looking for it probably won’t happen until you nurture relationships on social media. This can take time, but sales will come you just need to be patient. If you know this going into a social media marketing campaign it will reduce a lot of stress.
Define Engagement Numbers
A good way to tell if your social media marketing is going well is by engagements. If you are getting some good engagements that means your customers and followers are finding some value from what you are posting.
When defining your goals you will want to clearly define how many engagements you want per day, per week, or per month. When defining engagement numbers remember your budget and how much time you have to commit to social media. Keep your numbers reasonable so that you have a realistic goal to hit.
Remember also that organic reach is is dropping and getting free engagements is getting harder. You may have to pay for a big percentage of engagements through some advertising. This is something to consider when you define your engagement numbers.
Customer engagements are a way of building relationships with your customers online. That’s why I said not to expect a quick ROI on social media. Use engagements as a gateway to promote down the road as customers and followers look forward to your content.
If you are getting a good number of customer engagements you can use that trust you’ve built to promote your products and services. Just do it sparingly or give away free stuff to build an email list to generate leads.
What should my engagement goal be? A lot will depend on two things your budget and your time. If you have a person who handles your social media for you I’m sure that time is built into the budget. If you don’t have someone who handles your social media you need to factor in the time you have to commit to social media.
Start with a monthly goal and go from there. You can always adjust the goal after a couple of months. I like to keep things simple because a lot of people over complicate things. Just start with a monthly goal and you will be able to clearly define your engagements as you go.
Setting goals for social media marketing is very important. You need to know why you are doing it in the first place. There is no reason just to do random posts here and there because you think it will be good for business. Most likely you would be wasting your time without clear cut goals.

This is the first article in the new category Your Business Series. In this series of articles we will talk about how you can use social media for a specific industry.
Your Business Series Article #1 – How To Use Social Media If You Own A Restaurant.
Owning a restaurant is a fun yet complicated business venture. There are so many things that can go wrong. In fact most restaurants close within three years of opening. It’s a tough industry, but it also can be very rewarding. If operated right you can have a restaurant or multiple restaurants that runs itself with the right management. That could mean more time for you and your family. Of course it will take some hard work to get to that point. Social media marketing is part of that work. You will need to have a good social media marketing plan in place if you own a restaurant or multiple restaurants. If you are not sure if social media marketing is right for your business here are 10 reasons why you need to be doing social media marketing!
Get A Good Feel For Your Restaurant
Sit down and write down a good profile about your restaurant and how you want it to be perceived online. Do this before starting any social media marketing campaign. I compiled a nice list of Questions You Should Ask Before Starting A Social Media Marketing Campaign click on the link and feel free to use the questions when evaluating your restaurant and putting together a good profile that will help guide you when finding a personality for your restaurant.
Now that you put together a profile of your restaurant and know how you want your restaurant to be perceived online it’s time to start coming up with some good content for posting. This is the fun part! You want to come up with content that is eye catching and will get people to stop in their tracks while scrolling through their social media feed!
Good content can be graphics, pictures, links, live video or regular video just to name a few. Video is hot right now and growing bigger each day. As a restaurant a video or live video can be very powerful. Consider that when coming up with your social media marketing strategy.
Some Fun Content Ideas
Pictures of the food
Videos of the food
Pictures of people eating your food
Video of people eating your food
Pictures of any events the restaurant is hosting
Live Video of any events the restaurant is hosting
Specials of the day
Pictures of the restaurant
360 degree videos of the restaurant
Live videos of your chefs making a meal and giving instructions and recipes on how to make a similar meal. Just don’t give away the secret recipes of your top or signature meals.
Pictures of any local sports teams you sponsor
Awards you have won as a restaurant
If you are remodeling or making some upgrades to the restaurant share them on social media.
The restaurant sign
Pictures of some of your top customers (with their permission)
Pictures and videos of your staff
That’s a short list I could go all day with all the stuff you could post! A restaurant can really be shown off on social media. The problem is a lot of restaurant owners don’t really know how to do it. Remember you cannot just keep promoting over and over. If your audience see’s this they will tune you out or worse unfollow you! Make the posts engaging and get people talking! Add value first and the customers will follow. Don’t worry about ROI right away. Social media marketing is a marathon and it will take time to build relationships. If you don’t rush it you will see results after awhile and it will be worth it.
How do I know that? Because as of the writing of this article that’s how I get about 70% of my business. Yes a social media marketing agency that walks the walk! I figured if we are a social media marketing agency we better live by what we preach and that means doing great social media marketing for our business as well as our clients. Some social media marketing agencies are not very good at promoting their own business. How are they going to be very valuable to you?? Before hiring a social media marketing agency make sure to check out their social media pages first. As a matter of fact if you want check out our social media pages. (you should see the social media buttons on this page)
Do Special Social Media Promotions
Ok back to how you can be more effective on social media. Another idea on top of the ones listed above is to do a special promotion only for people who follow you on social media. Instead of getting into all of that here is an article I wrote on How to do Facebook Fan Only Promotions. Once you read that you can apply the same principles to other social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, Snapchat, and any other social media platforms that come along in the future. Giving you fans a special promotion shows you care and that you appreciate that they follow you on social media. It’s a great way to build a rapport with your fans on social media.
Just Have Fun!
A restaurant is a fun business and you are only limited by your own creativity. I love helping restaurants with their social media accounts because it is one industry where you can get really creative with the marketing! Use some of the advice in this article along with some of the other articles mentioned in here. Put together a plan and go with it! If it is not working change it up. Marketing is just a series of many tests and trials to see what works. Keep the stuff that is working and throw out the stuff that isn’t working.
Restaurant Statistics From 2015
8 out of 10 consumers will visit a restaurant in off peak times. This is true especially if there is a deal and they can save money.
76% prefer to visit a restaurant with healthy options.
70% of smartphone users use their phone to look at menus before visiting a restaurant.
6 Out of 10 chefs encourage customers to take pictures of their food to post on social media!
Sales in the restaurant industry top $566 Billion.
13 million people work in the restaurant industry in the U.S. roughly 9% of the workforce
89% of customers say they have researched a restaurant before dining there.

lets them know what you are about.
4. Cover Photo: This is where you can get really creative and show off
your businesses personality! Use lots of colors and make sure to put
your address and phone number on there. Use the cover photo to show off your brand. Use Canva it is a great tool for creating pictures. I use it all the time! Once you use it you will thank me. (I’m not affiliated with Canva I just love the free tool.)
5. Add Links To Cover and Profile Pics: Once you set the cover and
profile pic on your Facebook page click on them and add a
description and add a link to your website, blog, etc.
6. Add A Call To Action Button (CTA) : This is a nice feature that
Facebook added in 2014. You can add one call to action. Choose
from: Book Now, Call Now, Contact Us, Send Message, Use App,
Play Game, Shop Now, Sign Up, Watch Video, Send Email, and
Learn More . (Whew.. That’s a long list got through it all!) Choose the
one that will work best to generate leads for your business. I like to use the Call Us button. It is located just below the “cover photo area”. It’s real easy to set up! Don’t worry if you want to you can change it later. (below is a sample of how it looks on mobile)
7. Short Description: Fill this in with a short, but to the point description
of your business.
8. Long Description: This is an opportunity to really explain what your
business is about! Use this section to let people know all about your
business, employees, business hours, specials, products, etc.
9. Website Address & Phone Number: Make sure to add this for sure!
You want to give people all the info they need to contact you. This
makes it easy for them. Put it in the phone number and website
section and in your “Long Description”.
10. Proofread: Make sure to proofread everything before or right after
hitting “save”! Nothing looks more unprofessional than tons of spelling
errors and typos.
11. Add Services: If you are in the service industry there is a section on Facebook where you can add services you offer. Don’t leave this empty it is a great chance to tell your customers the exact services you offer! You can put them in order of importance once you are done. Just rearrange them to show your best and most popular services at the top. Below is a sample of the services section and how it looks on our Facebook page.
Once you do all that then publish your first post! Let the world know you
are on Facebook. Market your new Facebook Page on your website, at
your office or store, tell your friends and invite them to like your page. You are now on your way to a great social media presence!!
One Last Thing: Make sure to update your page every once in awhile.
Update your profile pic, cover photo, any useful info in the description
section, business hours, phone numbers, services and website address (if they change). You want your customers to have the most up to date info so that they can contact you if needed!
Bonus Tip: You can also add video playlists to put all your video uploads into a category. I have some of my videos sorted into playlists labeled Social Media Tips, Business Tips, Sales Tips, etc. It’s a great way to organize any videos you post. This is something you can do later once your page is setup and you’ve been posting for awhile. Check out the video here on how to add a Video Playlist.
Update: Facebook recently added some new CTA (Click To Action) Buttons to make it even easier to reach out to customers. This will give you even more options to get clients to respond to you and your Facebook ads. Test the CTA buttons and find which ones work best to generate new business. Some are meant to generate leads and some are meant for instant sales.

Today we live in an amazing age for marketing and technology! Facebook Live gives small businesses the power that only huge corporations used to have. Take advantage of this amazing opportunity afforded to you!
How To Use Facebook Live
Facebook Live gives us the power to broadcast live to customers at any given moment. It’s super easy all you have to do is go to post and hit “Go Live” and start filming. That’s all you need to do to get started. You don’t need any technical skills. Facebook makes it very easy for all to use!
Facebook Live For Social Media Marketing
You do however need a plan for Facebook Live if you are going to use it as part of a social media marketing plan. Don’t just start with no plan at all! Think about what you want to accomplish by going live on Facebook. I like to give value when on social media so I will go live to give some advice on marketing, social media marketing, business tips, etc. If you own a car repair shop maybe you go live to show people a problem with a current customers car and how you will fix it. A flower shop may go live to show how to make an awesome floral arrangement. The main thing is to be creative and even start writing down some notes on some fun subjects/ideas that you could do for Facebook Live. Social media is about being fun and creative! Facebook Live gives you that option to get creative live in front of your customers.
If you are new to video and live video don’t be afraid to get started. Just like anything it takes some practice to get good at it. Start out by doing a little bit at a time. Start with one video per month for a few months then go to two videos per month. This way you will gradually get good at it without it being overwhelming. Honestly I didn’t like doing video at first either, but I started to do it because I know it’s the future of social media marketing and if I didn’t start soon I would get behind the growing trend. So I started out a little here and there. It has become easier to me now that I have done it for awhile for Fun To Be Social and for our customers. I now actually like making videos!
Use The Power of Facebook Live!
Any business can take advantage of this great technology of live video! It is something that only a few years ago big businesses with large budgets could do. We are all now on the same playing field it is up to you how you use it and take advantage of it. Social media has changed our lives in so many ways and it has also changed the way businesses market to customers.
Start out with just a short Facebook Live video and get familiar with it. Have some sort of plan before starting. It can be just a five minute video. The main thing is just start! Odds are your competition is too scared to do it so if you start now you will be ahead of your competition when it comes to live video marketing.
There are so many ways you can get creative with Facebook Live and the possibilities are endless.
One thing you do need is a good following on Facebook because if you only have 100 page likes not many people will see your live video. Make sure to build up your page so that a good number of people will see it live. After you post the video on your timeline you can promote it so that others can watch it. If you are proud of your Facebook Live video and only a few people seen it live go ahead and promote the video!
Social Media Marketing Is Evolving
Live video is part of the the ever evolving world of social media marketing. It will continue to change months and years from now. Get started today so that you can keep up with the changes and get really good at it. Your competition and customers will notice!

Anytime you post stuff on social media it gets you seen. Depending on how many followers you have and how you use your hashtags you can be seen by a lot of people on every post. This applies to any social media type of post; pins, snaps, tweets, etc. the more people you can get in front of the better. In this article I compare how social media posts can relate to a huge billboard in terms of marketing.
Each Post Is Like A Billboard
Think about it each person that sees your post is like a car going by a billboard. If you have a good social media presence it’s like your billboard is on a super busy road and lots people are seeing it! If you don’t have a good social media presence or a very small audience it is like a billboard on a slow backstreet. Every time you post people will see it. What you decide to put on your billboard (your post) is up to you.
Make It Eye Catching
Because like a billboard on a busy road people are cruising through their social media to find interesting stuff. If it doesn’t catch their attention they will keep cruising and not even pay attention. Make sure that when you post a video, picture, graphic, etc that it will really GRAB their attention!
I know it’s impossible to have every single post be so great that people stop dead in their tracks to look at it and care. The ideal is to do it enough times that it makes an impact. Not every post has to be amazing.
Create some content that will get people talking and engaging. Don’t promote too much.I stick to the 90/10 rule, 90% good helpful and fun content, 10% promoted posts. Sometimes I don’t even promote my site or social media marketing services for a week or two. I just put out the best content I possibly can. I would rather build an audience and build relationships than promote. I think it is more effective in the long run.
Impressions Are The Cars Going By
Each car that goes by a billboard are the views it may receive. That’s why it costs more to put a billboard on a busy road because the potential for more views is there.
Same thing with social media posts, the more impressions the better. You want your post to get in front of as many people as possible. That’s why it is important to build your social media presence! The bigger your audience the bigger your reach. Remember just because there are lots of impressions on a post doesn’t mean all those people really payed attention. It’s just a stat to show you how many people may have seen your post.
“Likes” Are The Actual People Looking At Your Billboard
Think about it, when people like your post they are really paying attention to what you just posted on social media. Like a billboard it’s pretty much like someone driving in a car looking up at your billboard and saying “Cool I like that!” They acknowledged your post and that is very awesome!!
“Comments” Are Them Telling You How Much They Liked Your Billboard
When someone comments they are telling you that they really payed attention to your post. They will let you know what they thought about it or add something to the post with a comment. They might even have something negative to say or disagree. Either way they were intrigued enough to stop and leave a comment!
When people comment it’s like they took the time to email you or call you about your billboard. That means that they really liked it, hated it, or wanted to add to it. All good things because you got their attention!
“Shares” Are Like People Taking Pictures Of Your Billboard And Showing Their Friends
When someone shares your post they really, really like it! They like it so much that they shared it to show others. How cool is that!! I love when people share my posts because for one it will reach more people, and second that means it was good enough to get people to share and that means I added some great value or entertainment for them on that post.
When you apply this to the concept of a billboard it’s like they snapped a picture of your billboard and sent it to their friends to show them the cool billboard they just seen! When they do that people who wouldn’t have seen the billboard before now will get to see it!
Posts and Billboards Are Pretty Similar
They are similar in the fact of how people see your business. I used to pay attention to billboards and think to myself I wonder if the businesses who pay to put those billboards up actually get any results? Some do some don’t I assume.
The point of this article was to show you how social media can be applied to how old school offline marketing was or is. About 15 years ago that was one of the few ways to reach a big audience. Today with social media we can reach big audiences with the click of a mouse and with still very low cost.
We Are Living In A Great Age For Marketing!
Social media has made it so much better and easier to reach large audiences that I think a lot of people don’t realize how lucky we are now. Our capacity to get creative and gain great exposure for business is so much more attainable these days.
A billboard will cost over $1,000 per month in most cities plus set up fees. With social media you can get that same kind or better exposure for free! This goes to show the power of social media in today’s business world.
Work hard and build your social media through posting great content, engaging with your audience, and answering customer questions and you will have some great marketing power right at your fingertips!

You own or run a business and you don’t do social media marketing yet? There are way too many reasons you should be doing social media marketing for your business! I won’t get into all of them, but here are 10 Awesome reasons your business should get into social media marketing. (like yesterday!)
Drive Traffic To Your Website: When you do social media marketing there are many opportunities to drive traffic to your website. You can do this organically or through paid social media ads. One important thing is you don’t want to promote too much. I like to live by the 90/10 rule, post 90% good engaging content and promote only 10% of the time. So find a balance when posting links to your website. Here is an article about adding value on social media.
2. Build Brand Awareness: Social media is a great way to build brand awareness for your company. Even if you use social media for this it makes it very valuable. You don’t always need to promote yourself just add some value and build your brand through the value you can add to others on social media!
3. Real Time Customer Service: Unlike the old days when you needed a huge call center you can now have a small team that responds instantly to people on social media. These days people go on social media to vent, complain about an issue, ask a question, etc. It is a good idea to have a plan in place to respond in a timely manner to your customers on social media. Fast and caring replies is a great way to build trust with your customers.
4. Building Strong Relationships and Brand Loyalty: This kind of goes hand in hand with #3. Don’t use social media as a one way conversation. Social media is a great way to open doors and build relationships with current and future customers along with building other strong business relationships. If you use social media as a two way communications channel this will help to build relationships. Go out of your way to talk to others in your niche. Find Influencers that you can connect with and build a strong business relationship with.
6. Showing Off Your Products/Services: Social media is so great for showing off your products or services to your customers! You can be creative with the pictures you take and the wording you use on the photos or in the captions. Instagram and Facebook are two great platforms for showing off your products and services. It’s OK to show off your products or services more often if you can find creative ways to make them engaging. Don’t just promote and ram your products and services down peoples throats! One way to do this is to find out what kind of pictures others in your niche post. Take notes on what works for them. Don’t copy just use their posts as inspiration to get ideas. The main thing is if you are going to post pictures of your products and services make them engaging and seem more natural than just a promotional post.
7. Showcasing Your Employees: A great company loves to talk about their employees and social media is a great way to do that! Taking pictures of the office or company events with employees let’s people in and makes your business more transparent. In social media marketing transparency is a good thing. People love to see your business behind the curtain. Social media gives you that opportunity to let people see your company and culture.
8. Billions Of People Equals Lots Of Untapped Potential: With so many people on social media it would be a shame not to be doing social media marketing! The main rule of marketing to go where the people are. Social media is where people are! If you are doing any offline marketing that is great, but if you are going to do any online marketing then I highly recommend that you start social media marketing soon!
9. Staying Ahead Of Your Competition: Chances are your competition is already doing some sort of social media marketing. If you are not you will be left in the dust! If your competition is not doing social media marketing now is your chance to get a leg up on them and start. Whether your competition is on social media or not you can’t afford to sit by and watch them take advantage of social media marketing. You need to take action and start even if you don’t have much money to work with at least get your pages set up on the biggest platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. Maybe only start on one, just get started!
10. Taking Advantage of Social Media Analytics: Most of the social media platforms offer some pretty awesome data and analytics. This valuable information will help you to be more efficient and effective when doing social media marketing. Make sure that you use the great information that they give you to analyze and improve your social media marketing. These Insights and Analytics are free and if you read them and analyze them you can really start to learn what is working and what is not working. Use these reports to your advantage.
